Southern Corridor Ring Road is a project that has been going from long. This project was supposed to be completed by October 2018 but now it will be completed by January 2019. Well.. now the construction has been handed over to Gawar Construction Ltd. This company will complete this project of southern corridor within 15 months which will costs around 810 crore rupees.
Reasons behind the delay in construction
The construction of the roads is being delayed due to few reasons. First reason is the conflicts between the officers of JDA and NHAI. Second reason is time of construction is unnecessarily extended in the second phase.
What is Ring Road?
The plan has come up by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to ease traffic on the roads of Delhi and to make the movement easy. This is the third phase of ring road. As the traffic in Delhi is gearing up, the Centre has chalked out a `50,000-crore plan, including a third ring road. The Ring road is a plan to interlink highways with Delhi and to bring traffic congestion is on track.
40 meter non-construction zone in National Highway
Earlier, JDA was making ring road but now NHAI will make national highway. There will be changes in plan too. There will be 40 meter non-construction zone on the both sides of ring road. Hence, there will be no commercial activities too.
As there are some issues in acquiring land for flyovers under Ring road project, so there is doubt that whether the work undertaken by Gawar Construction Ltd. will be complete or not. But the JDA has assured that things will be completed on time.
