The fighters of democracy had devoted their lives at the time of June 25, 1975 emergency. To keep democracy alive, these leaders had undergone several hardships in the jail. Hence, our fighters of democratic and their sacrifices are highly respectful. DIR detainees

At that time of emergency, democracy was killed in the country and in the absence of law, the supporters of democracy were thrown into prisons. This all was said by Chief Minister of Rajasthan Smt. While addressing the fighters of democracy at SN Medical College Auditorium in Jodhpur, CM talked about the efforts and sacrifices made by the people at the time of emergency. On this occasion, she appreciated former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former deputy prime minister Mr. LK Advani, former Vice President Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Nanaji Deshmukh and Mrs. Vijayaaraje Sindhiya. DIR detainees

Changes made in pension scheme of MISA and DIR detainees

Now, the name of ‘Rajasthan MISA, DIR prisoners pension rules’ has been changed to ‘Rajasthan Loktantra Senani Samman Nidhi Niyam’. The decision to change name has been taken as the native residents of Rajasthan, who were in jails outside the state during the Emergency will be given pension and allowances.

Many detained from Rajasthan has the status of fighters for democracy but they were detained outside Rajasthan. In this case, they are not entitled to pension under ‘Rajasthan MISA, DIR prisoners pension rules’. With this, any Rajasthan resident prisoner detained anywhere in the country under MISA, DIR will get same medical allowances and pension. In fact, the government has promised to simplify the rules for the interest of fighters of democracy.

Pension and Allowance under MISA and DIR

The prisoners kept in the jails during the emergency are entitled to get the pension of Rs 12,000 and a monthly allowance of Rs 1200.

At the event, CM honored fighters of democracy above 85 years of age with a shawl. A letter of appreciation was presented to the Chief Minister by Loktantra Raksha Manch Rajasthan. The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Chief Whip in the Rajya Sabha Narayan Lal Panchariya, Minister of State for Law Shri P.P. Chaudhary, Minister of State Smt. Kamasa Meghwaland and many others.
