Finally, the long awaited Rajasthan government’s Annapurna Milk Scheme was launched on 2 July. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje launched this scheme by offering glass of hot milk to school girls. This scheme was launched at Adarsh Senior Secondary School in Dahmikalan (bagru) near Jaipur. Under this scheme, milk will be provided to nearly 62 lakh children studying in government schools and madrasas.
This ambitious scheme of Rajasthan government aims to provide a healthy life to children. Calling the kids future of the nation, she said that our future would be bright once these children start getting milk as part of their midday meal. Know more.

While addressing the launch event of this scheme, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also said, “I am also a mother and I know the happiness in seeing the kids growing and being healthy.” She further added that parents work hard day and night to get the right nutrition for their children. This milk scheme which has been started for kids would resolve this problem. Parents are not required to be worried about kids’ health.
Details about Annapurna Milk Scheme
Under the scheme, students in government school will be given warm milk as a part of mid-day meal. The milk will be given at least three days in a week. This scheme is for primary and higher primary classes i.e. 1st to 8th. Talking about the quantity of milk, students of class 1 to 5 will be given 150 ml milk while class 6 to 8 will be served 200 ml milk after the morning assembly.
It is important that students must get proper nutrition. But, the nutritional level of children studying in government schools is low. Hence, his scheme will improve their nutrition level in kids and children will get fresh, pure and nutritious warm milk in schools.
