Rajasthan University increases students’ insurance amount by Rs 50,000, among various other developments.

    The Rajasthan University has upscaled its one-of-a-kind students’ insurance amount from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, starting 2018. Rajasthan University Students Insurance

    Earlier, the insurance amount per student was Rs 45, but it has increased to Rs 55, running the university a total expense of 6 lakh. There are 27,000 students in the university and its constituent colleges. The new scheme will be implemented from August 15. 2018 to August 14. 2019. Rajasthan University Students Insurance

    The insurance scheme entails the disbursement of the insurance amount to the students’ nominee, on his death or partially handicapped or completely handicapped. Nominee of every student will become a recipient of insurance amount on the happening of such accidents or death. Rajasthan University Students Insurance

    A sum of Rs 6 lakh will be given to the nominee of a student who has died or whose two limbs have been completely destroyed. Likewise, for the students whose one limb has been destroyed, the nominee will be given Rs 3 lakh. If a student is injured and is hospitalized, he is given an amount of Rs 45,000. Rajasthan University Students Insurance

    Dean of Students Welfare (DSW) Sarina Kalia lauded Umed Sing, the University Financial officer who successfully negotiated the premium amount. She said: “Umed Singh proactive action led to the increase of the amount of insurance from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh and the amount received to a student during hospitalization from Rs 40.000 to Rs 45.000.     A whopping sum of Rs 80 lakh has been provided to the students since the inception of the scheme. The scheme was initially started with a premium of Rs 10 in 2005 by Bhupendra Singh Shekhawat, the Public relation officer of Rajasthan. The scheme has evidently supported many parents, whose children are studying in the university.

    The Rajasthan University offers a special insurance coverage to the students, which is not prevalent anywhere else in the country. The officials are also toying with the idea of integrating critical diseases like Cancer, kidney failure, heart diseases in the insurance scheme. Rajasthan University Students Insurance
