Golden Year 2017 for Rajasthan : Like every year, 2017 is on its verge of saying goodbye as 2018 is set to arrive and it’s time to look back at the timeline of the entire year. It would be wrong to say that the year was completely pleasant but overall, there were several positive developments and incidents that took place in Rajasthan. Ranging from the development projects introduced for the state to the implemented programs, there is a long list of golden moments for Rajasthan.

Without beating around the bush, let’s take a look at the Golden Year 2017 for Rajasthan:

Rajasthan bagged the eGovernance Award

Rajasthan bagged the eGovernance ‘Winner of Excellence’ award in the state category which is aimed at promoting digital India. There were 180 nominations for projects and Rajasthan along with Telangana emerged at the winner. These awards aim to promote the eGovernance initiatives and appreciate the efforts of government officials who implement such initiatives at all levels of administration. Golden Year 2017 for Rajasthan

Improved Health Facilities and Surgeries

In February, CM Vasundhara Raje inaugurated a medical project called Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment Program (RAHAT) introduced by EHCC hospital. The program aimed at offering timely treatment to those who are suffering from heart problems in remote areas and providing them immediate ambulance and telemedicine services.

In another report, the state completed 1,002 free heart surgeries of kids by providing necessary finance under the Rashrtriya Bal Swasth Karyakram (RBSK). In addition, 7 dental vans were inaugurated for divisional headquarters to ensure oral care treatment for kids in remote and rural areas.

Minimum Education Qualification for Cooperative Body Poll

In July 2017, Rajasthan became the first state to fix a minimum education qualification for candidates who contest elections in village cooperative societies and other cooperative bodies. The move was aimed at ensuring that the benefit of education can be accrued to the societies and also of educated people handle the management, efficiency would be ensured. Golden Year 2017 for Rajasthan

Skill Development Program in Higher Education

This year, Rajasthan also became the first state to incorporate skill development program in higher education. The education department along with IGNOU prepared 16 courses for entrepreneurship and skill development for state colleges. Annapurna Rasoi Expansion

The Annapurna Rasoi Yojna was expanded to 191 urban areas across the state and 50 Annapurna vans were inaugurated in Ajmer. It aims at providing food to the needy downtrodden section of the society at just INR 5 and INR 8 for breakfast and other meals.

First Transgender to Join Rajasthan Police

Ganga Kumari, a resident of Jalore district became the first transgender to join Rajasthan Police as a constable. Although she had cleared her exam and was eligible for the post, she had to fight a legal battle in Rajasthan High Court. However, justice was finally served and Ganga Kumari rose against all odds which is a sign that society is progressing towards a better tomorrow.

Maternal and Child Health Welfare

It has been a quite positive year with respect to the maternal and child welfare. The state strengthened its human milk bank network and felicitated the women for donating their milk. In addition to 11 human milk banks, 7 more were announced to be set up in the state.

Apart from this, there was a report that 25 breastfeeding clinics will be introduced in 13 districts of the state to encourage women to breastfeed and educate them about its importance. All these efforts are believed to help a great deal in reducing the infant mortality rate and ensure a healthy future for both mother and her child.

First State to witness launch of 47 Skill Labs

Rajasthan recently became the first state to witness the opening of 47 skill labs for the ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery) and GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) training. These are well-equipped and advanced labs to facilitate pre-nursing education program. The cost borne by the state for the establishment of these labs is INR 12.50 Crores.

Smart City Jaipur

In order to achieve the goal of turning Jaipur into a Smart City, the Jaipur Smart City Limited has taken a host of projects for making the city more citizen-friendly. The city has received several amenities like smart toilets, smart classrooms, Public cycle sharing plan, rooftop solar projects, etc. The authorities are also working on numerous other plans like improved parking facilities and smart heritage and tourism plans by improving the façade of city bazaars.
