The recent assembly elections brought flair of surprise in the country. Earlier, with BJP’s historical win in the UP state and now the unexpected CM appointment. On contrary to earlier gauging, PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah decided to pick the Gorakhour monk for the candidature and surprisingly RSS was not involved much with the decision.
Even before several months, BJP president Amit Shah contacted Rajnath Singh, to become BJP’s face in the UP.
On the Rajnath singh did not take it into serious concerns to be party face. Amidst all this, the party was taking taking Yogi Adityanath into serious concerns.

Many mouths said many things and one of them was about contacting Adityanath just to make it a point for Rajnath Singh, so that he accepts the proposal.
Even before the elections were conducted, and BJP was voted, the votings amongst the members projected Yogi as an appearing candidate.
The great discipline and diligence of Yogi Adityanath added to his stature as top contender and he won the political challenge with quite an ease.
Many party senior credited his hard work and door-to-door campaigning for the elections, closing all possibilities for the rebels.
Adityanath had got the right demonstration from Modi and Amit Shah from very start and decided not give heed to his eastern UP hassles.
In the 2014 campaign itself, Amit Shah had praised Yogi Adityanath whole-heartedly. One of the leader said, “The party chief stayed in the Gorakhpur mutt for a couple of days during the 2014 campaign and was very impressed with Adityanath’s disciplined lifestyle, his attention to those in his care, his plain-speaking and his knowledge of history”.
Bottom Line:
The key factor in Yogi Adityanath’s triumph was his acceptance and popularity among all masses and categories. Where he has the major support from the upper caste section of UP, his followers list is consist of lower caste folks seeking for clean heart development. Also, one of the BJP leader mentioned that, “many muslims attend his 9 am to 11 am panchayats, held in Gorakhpur”.
