“Women define the society, its standards and capabilities.”

Continuing the efforts to empower the women of the nation, the Rajasthan women’s commission launched mission ‘Pink Belt’ on Wednesday. This mission will enable women to not only become physically and mentally strong but also have sound knowledge of the law.

The mission encompasses women and girls from colleges, institutions, schools, etc. The program revolves around self-defense techniques, legal rights, mental strength and ability to combat difficult situations.

Recently, a workshop was also organized in this regard. It was attended by around 500 students from 10 schools and colleges.

It is also known that notable motivational speaker Aparna Rajawat will be training the girls under the mission. Once women have been trained, they will further train several others. Aspects like good and bad touch, cyber crime and law were also taught to the students.

“Incidents are happening in and outside houses, and at the workplace. The girls need to be prepared in a way that no one dares to misbehave with them. We will recommend that the government makes self-defence training part of the curriculum,” she said.

“In our society, the mentality is that a five-year-old brother goes to drop his 12-year-old sister, this should change. Instead of parents guarding daughters, they should educate boys to respect women,” said the commission chairperson.

Addressing students, Rajawat said, “We need to change slogans such as save or educate girls but make the boys understand. We should not tolerate when teased but protest and teach them a lesson. We should not be a spectator, victim or witness if a girl is being teased but become a fighter.”

Additionally, the government has a slew of schemes running exclusively for the women. Whether its the Rajshri Yojana, Cycle Vitaran, Transport Voucher, Bhamashah Yojana, Hamari Beti Yojana for empowering the women, the girl child across the state. After all, who can understand the pains of women and what they need better than a female Chief Minister?
