The Rajasthan University (RU) has been ranked 79 among the country’s top 100 universities by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) on Monday.
In the overall category, BITS-Pilani has been ranked 21, followed by IIM-Udaipur which sealed the 63rd position while Banasthali University dropped to 89.
Banasthali University (BU)-53 and the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RUVAS)-68 in the university category.
As far as the sub-categories are concerned, a battery of colleges outshined, against general expectations. Various sub-categories like Engineering, Management, Medical were also formulated.
BITS-Pilani did better and came 16, IITJodhpur 65 and Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, was ranked 70 by NIFR.
In the Management category, Rajasthan situated IIM-Udaipur grabbed the 15th position in the list of top institutions under the sub-division of management institutions category.
An overall scoring was also done which took into account various parameters. RU scored an aggregate of 35.85% in this division.
Nonetheless, the name which made it to the top of all Indian colleges is the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore. It has been named as the leading university in the country.
Over the last three years, RU has published 901 research papers in prestigious science web journals and 884 articles in Scopus research journal.
Notably, out of 486 faculty members, 339 members are PhD degree holders at the Rajasthan University.
“The evaluation is an eyeopener for the university which will work towards improving the quality of education,” said Bhupendra Singh Shekawat, PRO, RU.
Unfortunately, none of the state colleges made it to the list of `top 100 colleges’ in the country.
Rajasthan University is indeed a reputable institution which is known for it’s holistic development activities and comprehensive study material. The state has witnessed many exceptional personalities who happen to be the alma-mater of this prestigious institution.
