Rajasthan has topped the country in issuing a total of 2,22,422 Universal ID and Disability (UDID) cards, maximum in the country. UDID is a single document of identification and verification for differently-abled persons.

When it’s about streamlining and making government procedure more transparent and evidential, Rajasthan is always considered as the Numero Uno across the country. Yet again, the state has proved it.

Rajasthan Top state in UDID generation

According to the reports of the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities, Rajasthan has dethroned Madhya Pradesh in the category of maximum generation of e-UDID cards.

“Rajasthan has reached the top spot for distributing UDID cards,” Anupama Jorwal, director, specially-abled persons in the department of social justice and Empowerment.

UDID Distribution: Country stats

As for the second and third spot in UDID distribution, Madhya Pradesh has generated 2,18,007 e-cards while Odisha, which lies on the third position with 59,248 e-cards.

“What Madhya Pradesh has been doing for four years, Rajasthan has achieved it in mere eight months,” Dr. Samit Sharma, special secretary, and director of the department of social justice and empowerment.

According to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the UDID cards are assigned to those with 40% or/and above disability. These cards can be read by a reader. All the details of the differently-abled person are loaded onto the card so there is no need to carry multiple documents or copies. This ensures safety of documents and convenience for the disabled.
