Rajasthan Day 2018: A Cultural Extravaganza Depicting the Rich Heritage of the State

    Rajasthan Day or Rajasthan Diwas is the day of Rajasthan’s foundation that is observed every year on 30th March. Every year, the day is celebrated in the honour of state’s rich heritage and culture with a lineup of engaging and enjoyable events at Jaipur.

    Although the events had started from March 17th with the theatrical Navras program, the official opening ceremony was held on 28th March 2018. Followed by this, there will be some more events and ceremonies on 29th and 30th March.

    The festivities have been organized by the tourism department and this year, it’s aimed to entertain the audiences from every age group. The events planned for the Rajasthan Diwas include musical concerts, religious prayers, film festival, marathon, musical evening, army show, and much more. In order to make the celebration inclusive the organizers have made extra efforts to add new locales like Masala Chowk, Raja Park and Moti Dungri as the venues of the events.

    Apart from classical dance performances, film festivals, and light & sound shows, there are going to be several musical performances by the renowned trio- Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Besides, the local bands like Swarag and Rubarau will also be given the opportunity to showcase their talent. Not just this, numerous religious chants in the form of bhajans, aarti, qawwalis, and Gurbani have been arranged at temples, dargahs, and gurudwaras across Jaipur.

    The official opening ceremony took place on March 28 with the traditional lighting of Rajasthan Day Torch. During this, a display of tableaux was displayed with folk artists representing various regions. Then a film festival on culture and tourism was inaugurated by Bollywood and TV actors like Bhagyashree, Dr Aditi Govitrikar, Sudhanshu, and Tina Dutta.

    Besides, the highlight of the day was the special police tattoo show and a dog show at the JDA Polo ground. The BSF also displayed a spectacular show of their skills on motorbikes that gave an adrenalin rush to the spectators.

    The second day kicked off with a cycle marathon organized from Albert Hall to Jawahar Circle at 6:30 in the morning. Other programs throughout the day include Children’s film festival, International festival of short films, and Qawwali program.

    The Indian Army will display mock hostage rescue operation, horse show, and other activities. Also, there will be the Theatre Olympic 2018 followed by a mega evening concert at Albert Hall where the popular trio Shankar Ehsaan and Loy would be setting the stage on fire.

    The closing ceremony on March 30th will take place at Vidhan Sabha where a state-of-the-art projection mapping show will be organized to display the glorious past of Rajasthan.
