Rajasthan Private School under RTE Quota

The centre’s RTE—a powerful method to invoke equality in education and learning facilitates the entry of economically challenged students in respectable, esteemed private institutions. According to the RTE act (Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education) of 2009; all private schools of the country reserve 25% seats for students from weaker sections and disadvantaged groups.

The act is a commendable move by the Centre that ensures students hailing from various backgrounds—scheduled tribes and castes, social minorities, educationally backward classes and other groups get equal opportunities, irrespective of their economic, cultural, social, geographical, linguistic and gender barriers. Even those suffering from physical or mental ailments have the right to free education in special schools—a provision that was later included in the RTE act, through an amendment made in 2015.

Over the years, government has stressed on the importance of admitting students through the RTE act. The idea is to create a single, global platform where all children receive equal opportunities to exhibit their talents. Many institutions all over the country follow this rule to make this dream a reality. Recently, Rajasthan government instructed all local schools to open their admission process for the coming academic year 2017-2018 under RTE act this month.

RTE Quota in Rajasthan Schools

With this, 33,500 private schools in Rajasthan will admit up to 2.5 lakh students in RTE quota. If your family income falls below the upper limit (that is Rs 1 lakh) set by the schools, you can enroll your wards under RTE act. All social categories including ST/SC are excluded from this category. This benefit is offered to economically weaker sections only so they can provide a better learning environment to their kids.

All applications for RTE quota should be sent before April 30th. After the closing of admission process, school authorities will pick students through a lottery system on May 8. Students, who’re selected via chit system, will have to submit an affidavit certifying their annual family income to the schools, during document verification process.

In case a school fails to comply with the government’s order, they’ll be penalized by the HRD ministry. Rajasthan government is putting in relentless efforts to admit all students below Rs 2 lakh income group. Considering high costs of living in urban areas, parents can’t afford high education fee and other academic expenses in schools. Seeing that Rajasthan has a good number of seats under this quota, the government will attempt to provide benefits to maximum number of people in this category.
