Rajasthan government is emphasising on renewable energy projects in the state. The state government has spared the duty on electricity of 40 paise per unit for solar rooftop and captive units. This decision is likely to assist Rajasthan reach closer to 2300 MW of rooftop solar capability by the year 2022. This target has been given by the centre. This duty cut is likely to have a favourable effect on the new capacity in queue.
During very recent note, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation rolled out rate contract order for rooftop plants of 25 MW capacity and also enlisted companies to supply, design and install the projects. People are eager to put up rooftop plants can have access to these vendors who need to give guarantee of 5 years of maintenance.
Mr. Doshi (managing director of RREC) said, “These projects enjoy a subsidy of 30% provided by the government. Capacity of these plants vary from 1 kWh to 500 kWh. The 2300 MW target given to Rajasthan by the Centre for solar rooftop is steep, but we have all the necessary policies in place to achieve that”. He also said that, tenders for other 5 MW has been rolled out on Friday and the projects will also come on the government stories in the divisional offices of the state.
He further added, “We have adopted Resco model for the 5 MW under which the consumer can install a solar power plant and not pay anything upfront. A power purchase agreement is signed between the installer and the consumer. The installing company will make the investment and the consumer will pay for the power”.
Rajasthan rolled out net-metering policy with which a person can use the power generated by him/her. Apart from that the extra can be passed into the discom’s grid. The state has already installed rooftop capability of 47 MW.
