    One Nation One Election

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is well known for his influence on his followers which is quite evident from the fact that BJP is ruling over the nation with an unbeaten majority. Owing to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections that are due in May 2019, PM Modi is quite adamant to maintain the party’s reign over the nation and plans are already being made to prepare for the big electoral battle with One Nation One Election.

Preparations for Lok Sabha 2019 Elections

BJP came to power in 2014 with a record breaking victory and now as the 2019 elections are coming closer, the party is going to leave no stone unturned to win the next elections. PM Modi is reportedly coming up with a master plan of creating an influence on the voters jointly for Assembly elections as well as the Lok Sabha elections at one go.

    Early Assembly Elections in states

If reports are to be believed, BJP wishes to conduct the assembly elections for Maharashtra, Haryana, and Jharkhand 10-11 months prior to the completion of the term in October-November 2019. It’s possible that the Assembly elections of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh in December 2018 could be accompanied by elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Jharkhand.

As far as Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are concerned, BJP has plans to convince leaders like Chandra Babu Naidu and Chandrashekhar Rao to pre-pone the elections and schedule them around the same time. The same strategy is being made to reschedule elections in Sikkim, 5 months prior to the original dates.

Nitish Kumar on Early Scheduling of Elections

In addition to the 9 states mentioned above, Bihar may also join in with early assembly elections. As per Nitish Kumar, if the assembly and Lok Sabha elections are carried out around the same time, Bihar would be ready to join other states for early elections.

    Impact on Opposition

If BJP succeeds in rescheduling the elections across the country and is able to speed up the Lok Sabha elections as well, the opposition will have to make extra efforts to register a victory. It’s a well known fact that PM Modi’s image and his fan following has worked wonders for BJP and if he campaigns for the Assembly elections, there is a good chance for the party to sweep all votes in the upcoming elections.

In a scenario where opposition, mainly Congress, is not as popular as PM Modi who is also the face of the party, the public is more inclined towards him as compared to any other leader. Furthermore, much like in Gujarat, the Modi wave would work like a charm no matter who the contesting candidates are.
