Ahead of the Assembly elections that are scheduled for later this year in Rajasthan, Congress has announced that the party is not going to project the CM candidate as of now. Instead of revealing the Chief Ministerial face, Congress has decided to project a united face of the party ahead of the crucial polls. Congress in Rajasthan

Congress President Rahul Gandhi met the top party leaders from Rajasthan and reviewed the preparations. It was then made clear that all the top 3 leaders namely Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, and CP Joshi will be venturing on a mass contact programme.

Apparently it has been a tradition for Congress not to disclose the Chief Ministerial candidate beforehand. So this means that all the anticipations regarding the possibility of either Sachin Pilot or Ashok Gehlot getting a hold over the candidature have been put on hold for now. Congress in Rajasthan

Right from the time when Congress registered victory in all three bypolls of Alwar, Ajmer, and Mandalgarh, speculations were doing the rounds that either Gehlot or Pilot could be the CM candidate. Other probable names like Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and CP Joshi were also expected to be competing in the race. Congress in Rajasthan

Reportedly, Congress hasn’t yet come to a common ground as to who would be nominated as the CM candidate. In such a scenario, the party wanted to cast aside all differences within the party and simply focus on campaigning as a united force. A majority of the leaders raised this point and Rahul Gandhi approved the idea of not disclosing the name of the candidate.

However, there are some leaders like Satyavrat Chaturvedi who still think that the party must come up with the candidate name as the voters deserve to know who is going to be their leader for the next 5 years. Apparently, the party is trying hard to refrain from engaging in any chaotic conflicts as that could hamper their chance of winning the elections.

As Congress is going to fight the elections sans a CM candidate, the posters will have Rahul Gandhi’s face representing the party in Rajasthan. As a part of the mass program, the party is gearing up for a 90-day campaign in which all the top Congress leaders will be travelling to all 200 assembly segments and would interact with booth level workers, possibly in all the district headquarters.
