Following Bharatpur tragedy wherein 24 people died in a wall collapse at an illegally constructed marriage hall, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje ordered investigation against the offenders. Due to Rajasthan government’s interference, the JMC (Jaipur Municipal Corporation) woke up from its deep slumber. This Friday, JMC officials visited marriage gardens around the city to inspect their construction details and license, as per the instructions of chief minister Raje. The JMC team tightened nooses around marriage halls that don’t possess a valid license.

Government Probes Investigation against Marriage Halls

The JMC targeted Amber, which houses some of the best marriage gardens in the city. Following their investigation, 11 marriage gardens located in Amber zone were sealed, after the officers found them to be illegal. The investigation was launched under the supervision of Vaidnath Sharma (Revenue Inspector), Hazari Lal Sharma (Deputy Inspector for Vigilance) and Kavita Chaudhary (Deputy Commissioner, Amber Zone). The list of illegally constructed wedding venues include big names, such as—

  • Shivam Marriage Garden,
  • Jagirdar Marriage Garden,
  • Gauri House Vivah Sthal,
  • Ratan Paradise,
  • Amber Bagh Garden,
  • Bhagat Marriage Garden,
  • Sitaram Banya,
  • Azim Marriage Garden,
  • Kalal Marriage Garden and
  • SL marriage Garden.

The marriage halls suspended by the officers weren’t registered with JMC. To top it, the officers didn’t have any details regarding their construction. Keeping public welfare in mind, this is for the first time that the JMC has taken strict action against illegally constructed marriage halls without consulting the civic bodies.

Concurrently, the LSG (Local Self Government) department has instructed all wedding venues in Jaipur to procure valid licenses and document from the government. The marriage lawns need to produce NoC from fire department and JMC-certified blueprint of construction to ensure the safety of guests partaking in marriage ceremony. They also need to have proper parking space to accommodate vehicles.

FIR Registered Against Coaching Centers

The JMC lodged FIR against 10 coaching centers that violated RPDPA (Rajasthan Prevention of Defacement of Property Act). The officials slacked 3 coaching centers in Mansarovar area for sticking institute posters on public walls.

Taking lessons from the tragic Bharatpur incident, JMC officers will observe proper precautions against offenders now.
