Govind Dev Ji Utsav: Repertoire of Raslila dances, Aarti and mindful devotion and heartfelt prayers

    Holi is around the corner and so is the Govind dev Ji  Phag Utsav. Much talked about by elders and Krishna devotees, Govind Dev ji Utsav is the current buzz across the town and the country.

    Centred around lots of dance, music, flower rains, this is a life-filled festival celebrating the divine love between Radha and Krishna. It starts with a Kalash Yatra and usually culminates towards the end of March.

    The Holi celebrations call for a monumental celebration of the pure love between Krishna and Radha at Jaipur’s most famous historic Govind Devji temple. The dance communicates the story of Krishna, as described in Hindu scriptures.

    It is a celebration spread over as many as 16 days, paying a tribute and remembering the divinity of Radha and Krishna.

    The Jaipur templed dedicated to Govind dev ji is located in the City Palace complex. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, this is one of the seven temples of Thakur of Vrindavan including Sri Radhavallabh Ji, Shri Bankey Bihari Ji, Shri Govind Dev Ji and four others.

    Intrinsically, Phag Utsav remarks that human desires should be diverted for the attainment of Krishna-consciousness and well-being of the society.

    “The specific significance that is attached to the relationship between Sri Krishna and Radha is the supernal love that operates in this mysterious relationship between God and the world. The world is ruled by love, which is the quintessence of God,” Sri Swami Krishnananda said.

    With flowers, Raslila dance, pooja and lots of spirituality surrounding the Utsav, the Govinddev Ji Utsav brings together hundreds of thousands of devotees from different walks of life to be a part of this event. From several servings of ‘Aartis’ and ‘Bhog’ throughout the day, this event is a soulful event congregating multiple devotees and priests.
