Investors could shy away from equities and look at alternate investment modes,” Venu Madhav, Chief Operating Officer, Zerodha told stock market app Moneycontrol.
Possibility of increasing holding period Budget 2018
It is also being suggested that the government will increase the holding period to 3 years from the current 1 year. The imposition of Long Term Capital gain tax may be introduced for all gains made before 3 years of holding the investment.
