Lately, a lot of discussion has been going around about the comparison between selling pakodas and unemployment. It all started when Prime Minister Modi stated that even if a person is selling pakodas and taking home INR 200 in a day, he is employed. Soon, Congress took a jibe at PM Modi and said that the government is putting “wild” claims of job creation and if ‘selling pakodas’ is a job then begging should also be considered as a job. Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram also snapped at the Centre saying that no “real job creation” has taken place under the BJP rule. Amit Shah
As the entire incident took the shape of a political debate, both Congress and BJP put forward their views on employment and now BJP President Amit Shah has also joined the discussions. In his maiden speech in Rajya Sabha, Shah said that selling pakodas is better than being unemployed. Amit Shah

He further said that there is no shame in selling pakodas and whatever work one is doing should be considered as employment. Countering the issue of job creation for the youth put forward by Congress, Shah said that the problem of unemployment has persisted even after 55 years of Congress’ rule. Amit Shah
He also criticized Congress for comparing the work of selling pakodas with begging and said that no work is big or small. The only logic behind PM Modi’s statement was to clarify that even if you are earning less money, you are employed. Notably, Mr. Modi himself worked as a tea seller in his teenage and now he has become the Prime Minister of the country which in a way justifies that no work is big or small. Amit Shah
Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh has claimed that by saying that selling pakodas is better than being unemployed Shah has agreed that BJP has failed to give jobs to the youth. He said that Shah is truly loyal to PM Modi and he has now accepted that since there are no jobs; the youth has left with no other option but to sell pakodas to earn their living.
Coming back to BJP President Amit Shah and his maiden speech, he also talked about Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojna and how the program has emerged as a major success. Besides, he appreciated as to how well the government handled the Kashmir issue and also defended GST. Amit Shah
