Despite being a peaceful state, where all 36 communities reside in peace, Rajasthan couldn’t escape the flames of the recent Mandsaur killings. Following a mass protest launched by Madhya Pradesh farmers, five innocents were killed by MP police that was trying to control an unruly mob. Consequently, the farmer community went in a state of agitation—the emotions spreading like a forest fire in the neighboring state. Last week, some rowdy elements provoked the state farmers to protest against the government. Though nothing came out of it, but the incident surely alarmed the Rajasthan police.

Taking lessons from Mandsaur violence, Rajasthan police made an effort to prepare all officers to deal with such emergencies in future.

This Sunday, SP Mr. Gaurav Yadav conducted a training camp in Jaisalmer to train the police personnel. The officers were trained in live fire for tackling public catastrophes. They were given modern resources, weapon and tools to deal with disorderly mobs and protestors. The cops were thoroughly trained under the watchful eye of SP Yadav so that they can maintain peace and order in the city, under challenging circumstances.

‘Vajra vehicle’, gas gunset, rubber bullets and advanced weapons were included in the drill. All senior officers and jawans, including CI Jetharam, additional SP Jainarayan Meena, SHO Mahesh Shimali and Deputy SP Narendra Kumar Dave participated in the drill. Jaisalmer police line was the venue for this training camp.

Besides Jaisalmer, these training camps were organized in other districts too. A similar camp will run in Barmer for three consecutive days. If SP Yadav is to be believed, this training will come handy in unpleasant circumstances, where the police will be expected to handle crisis with patience. It’ll also help officer strengthen security measures all over the state.

Considering the pace at which the cops are training in these camps, it’s safe to say that the state will remain protected from the flames of farmer protests at present.
