Rajasthan health department has set its new target towards plummeting the infant dying rate in the state. Rajasthan health department has set new targets to improve one of the key health indicators infant mortality rate (IMR). IMR in the number of deaths per 1,000 live births under one year of their birth.
The state has also reported a considerable drop in infant mortality rate (IMR), which has been observed in the past 10 years. About 10 years ago, out of 1000 live births, 61 infants died. However, the death toll has now dropped to 41 deaths, according to National Family Health Survey-4 (2015-16).
However, now the Health department is aiming to reach at an unprecedented death rate in the coming future. The health department has resolved to bring death rate to .023% (i.e. 23 deaths per 1000 live births) over a span of 10 years.
Department officials also claimed that the health department will ensure full vaccination. This will bring down children deaths in the state.
Health secretary Veenu Gupta said that the health department has set target to reduce NNMR in the state from 32 deaths per 1,000 live births which will be brought down to 16 deaths per 1,000 live births by 2025.
“Health department officials will prepare an action plan to achieve targets of vaccination by 2020. Thirteen percent of children die of diarrohoea which can be prevented by rotavirus vaccine. An action plan will focus on vaccination of those children who were left out from getting vaccinated. Special drive of vaccination will be conducted in the state under mission Indradhanush,” said Health Minister Saraf.
According to health department, there are 32 neo-natal dies per 1,000 live births in the state before completing 28 days of life. Officials said that the neo natal mortality rate (NNMR) in the state is 32 per 1,000 live births.
