All parents want their kids to excel at school, especially their sons. The patriarchal society of India promotes sons, thinking he would financially support them in future. In this process, we forget about our sagacious daughters, who’re left behind, feeling unwanted. Many Indian parents prefer to invest in their daughter’s wedding rather than sponsoring her education—an insensitive blow to their dreams and self-confidence. What we don’t know is that a little push in the right direction can help our daughters outshine everyone else. A helping hand, a caring word and concern will encourage them to outshine in future.
Keeping this thought in mind, CM Vasundhara Raje led BJP government will award meritorious girl students in each district with cash prizes to promote girl education in Rajasthan. It doesn’t matter if you’re studying in a public or private school; all talented girl students are eligible for this award.
Rajasthan government sponsored awards will be bestowed upon astute girl toppers of classes VIII, X and XII in RBSE (Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education) schools. Female students from all social strata and different categories, whether rich or poor, general or OBC are eligible for this cash prize. The announcement is likely to come into effect from upcoming academic session 2016-2017.
School education minister Mr. Vasudev Devnani informed the media on details of various cash prizes and awards.
- The government will give Rs 40,000 in cash to the district-level toppers of class VIII board exams.
- Class X RBSE toppers will get Rs 75,000 and a scooty.
- Class XII RBSE toppers will get Rs 1 lakh and a scooty.
- The toppers of ‘Varishtha Upadhyay’ exams will get a scooty too.
District-level toppers need to secure minimum 60% marks in various subjects to be eligible for these awards. Besides giving cash prizes, the government will distribute certificates too.
These prizes will be distributed in a special valedictory ceremony held in the honor of meritorious students on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami.
