In continuation to a warning by the All India In Service Doctors Association (AIISDA) issued last month, Rajasthan is witnessing a massive strike by all the practising doctors.

The doctors have decided to go on a mass strike starting from Monday (November 6) in lieu of protesting for their unheard demands by the state government.

    Demands and strikes by AIISDA

This is not the first time when the doctors’ association has warned the government of protests and strikes. AIISDA had earlier threatened the government saying, “If all the legitimate demands of the doctors are not fulfilled in Rajasthan, the doctors of entire India will protest along with doctors of Rajasthan.”

The doctors have put forward 33-long demands which they want to be fulfilled. The doctors have been extensively agitating over the fulfilment of their demands.

If reports are to be believed, the doctors have demanded formation of a separate cadre for in-service doctors, single-shift run government health centres, rural allowances, Rs 10,000 grade pay benefit for doctors, corrections in salary discrepancies, housing facility and safety for all doctors.

    Why strike isn’t the solution?

This is a profession of care and hospitality. It is a profession which demands a compassionate heart and a benevolent soul. A doctor is always understood as a full time profession. Patients may land in critical situations and may need doctor’s support as matters of life and death cannot be “STRIKED-off”.

The indifferent attitude of doctors is reflected as inhumane by many across the state. As far as fulfilment of demands is concerned, the government is taking a multitude of actions to resolve the issue. But using strikes as weapon vacates provide a doctor of being awarded the title of ‘responsible citizen’. Doesn’t it?

    Goodness overpowers Strikes and negativity

“Doctors have submitted their demands but something may take time in being implemented,” state health minister Kalicharan Saraf said.A slew of doctors have furnished their resignation from the AIISDA, so to ensure that their patient doesn’t suffer because of the trivial strikes.
