Rajasthan, the desert state is leading in several health related aspiring programmes. Mother milk banking is one such example of Rajasthan heading high as major state in health regimes. Also, Rajasthan has become the first state to bring up the community milk banking. The government has started with 10 such fruitful banks in the state.
Now, no new born baby will be deprived of the milk availability due to any health reasons with her/his mother. Any woman who is incapable to breastfeed the new born under 28 days can get the facility from mother milk bank. With this, she can provide the pure mother milk to her child. Mother milk is very necessary for the neo-natal to maintain the immunity and to lower the infant mortality rate.
Yog Guru Devendra Agarwal, the state advisor for government mother milk bank project mentioned, “Through clinical milk banking, the neo-natal mortality rate can be brought done by 16% and from community milk banking, it can be reduced by 22%. In clinical milk banking, a neonatal is provided with mother milk from the existing milk bank who is admitted to a hospital or his or her mother is admitted to the hospital. But, in community milk banking, an neo-natal who is not admitted in the hospital can also get the mother milk. Rajasthan is the only state, which has community milk banking. It is the first state which has launched community milk banking”.
The mother milk banks will serve as boon for orphan new borns, infants who can not get mother’s milk because of medical issues and those who are abandoned.
The death of neonatal can be prevented with the help of these kinds of solutions only. Mr. Agarwal mentioned, “The 10 mother milk banks have been set up with a cost of Rs10 crore and it requires just Rs 5crore for yearly maintenance”.
In the whole state, 3,576 mothers have made the donation in the milk banks. The health department is also giving treatment to mothers who can not feed their babies.
