
The saffron party is betting on Jharkhand Governor, Draupadi Murmu as its presidential elections candidate. Congress, on the other hand, is considering former West Bengal Governor, Gopal Krishna Gandhi. Congress has apparently tuned itself of anticipated failure.
Reddy issued a public announcement on backing BJP’s presidential candidate after meeting Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Sources also state that BJP has been backed by quite a few crucial political players including the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. The TRS is most likely to support BJP in choosing the right candidate to assume the presidential throne as Pranab Mukherjee’s successor.
YSR Congress has shown exemplary support for BJP, thereby implying that key junctures of Andhara politics will assume BJP’s side.
President Pranab Mukherjee’s tenure will end sometime in July after which the selected candidate will take the oath.

Meanwhile, Congress approached Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik who had reportedly refuted from backing the party. The INC party also approached other opposition leaders like chief ministers Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee. CPM chief Sitaram Yechury was also being eyed by the Congress. The presidential election had always appeared an uphill task for the united opposition but it slowly seems to be becoming an impossible battle given the drift of key regional outfits.
Congress has triumphed at the Presidential elections, the past being a testimony to this fact. What is different this time is the fact that Congress is in a jeopardy with the party witnessing major splits.
When this massive majority and favourism is being enjoyed by BJP before the Presidentai elections, the D-day could not be different. The saffron candidate is likely to gain more votes this year as the Modi wave has already swept the nation.
