Jaipur – The Newly Designated Cisco Lighthouse City launches the Jaipur Smart City mobile app for the locales…
“The best way to predict future is to design it“. Keeping in line with this thought, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje visualised a Pink and Smart Jaipur, furnished with the best-of-best IoT (Internet of Things) solutions and ICT (Information and Communication) technologies to link and manage the city assets in best possible way. The idea was to use advanced urban informatics to introduce quality services in everyday life. This would not just meet an average resident’s requirement but also ensure better standards of living. Rajasthan government has already taken key steps in this direction. Recently, they unveiled the Jaipur Smart City mobile app that allows quick accessibility to smart city solutions.
Smart City Jaipur Becomes the First Cisco Lighthouse City in South Asia…
A smart city effectively integrates multiple technologies on a single secure platform to manage local departments, information systems, transportation, educational institutes, hospitals, waste management, power plants, water supply, law enforcement and community services.
Having bagged the third prize in the smart city mission, Jaipur became the first Cisco Lighthouse City in South Asia for the year 2016. Infra giant Cisco assigns this special status to a few selected cities all over the world. This accomplishment will open up new opportunities for the Pink City.
Here’s what we can see in the coming days.
- First Network Operating Centre in Rajasthan
Rajasthan government has developed a NOC at the JDA (Jaipur Development Authority) headquarters to monitor and operate new infrastructure services using a single network. The facility was inaugurate by CM Vasundhara Raje. Cisco CEO John Chambers was present on the occasion.
The NOC will link all tech-savvy smart projects like intelligent kiosks, smart streetlights, wireless broadband, smart parking, sensor-based dustbins and the new smart city app under a single network. This will ensure greater efficiency in terms of service delivery.
- Centre of Excellence, built in Collaboration with Genpact and Cisco
The global centre of excellence (located in Genpact building at JLN road) will aid the local authorities in achieving digital transformation in the shortest possible time. Rajasthan youths will be provided with quality training at this centre. Genpact, being a global leader in business processing and Cisco, a world giant in digital technologies will come together to take Jaipur far ahead than Bangalore in Delhi in the digital race.
- Jaipur Smart City App
Jaipur Smart City App was created so that users can get acquainted with latest updates in the city. On this app, viewers can locate tourist hotspots, hottest accommodations, shopping and dining destinations in the city. Moreover, it provides information on government schemes, public auctions, allotments and bookings. Viewers can raise complaints, check its status and evaluate the quality of services offered in different parts of the city.
In short, these initiatives are being made so that Jaipur can take the lead as the digital hub of the country. The government has signed several MoUs with Cisco to seal the fate of multiple projects in the city. In future, Jaipur can access Cisco’s global network and benefit from the socio-economic transformation that comes as an additional perk as the entire country embarks on the path of digitisation in the next of Digital India Program.
