    Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the public through a video conference and inaugurated the National Youth Festival 2018. It’s a 5-day youth fest being held at the Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida. The inauguration ceremony was organized on the occasion of the birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The day i.e. 12th January is also celebrated as the National Youth Day.

    Talking about the fest, it has been organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the UP government. The event was co-presided by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore. Besides, Union Minister for Culture (Independent Charge) Mahesh Sharma also attended the event as the guest of honour.

    What the Fest is all about?

    The National Youth Festival has been organized with an aim to bring together the youth of the nation on a platform and provide them an opportunity to showcase their talent in respective activities. The theme of the fest is ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’. The basic purpose is to capitalize on the demographic dividend of young India, capturing the vibrant and fresh perspective of the youth and pledge to achieve the Goal of New India.

    The fest will witness participation of around 5000 volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan from across India and the local accredited youth. The festival will create a Mini India where the youth will interact in formal and informal settings where they will exchange social and cultural uniqueness.

    What PM Modi Said at the Inauguration Ceremony?

    While inaugurating the event, PM Modi talked about India’s achievements and the role of youth population in building the future of the nation. Praising ISRO for the launch of India’s 100th satellite named PSLV C40/Cartosat-2, he said that this success of the space agency would help the farmers, fishermen, and scientists of the nation to obtain ground details.

    He also congratulated the winners of the National Youth Awards and urged youngsters to make youth job creators and contribute towards making an India that our freedom fighters wished for.
