Jaipur : 919 Innovative Health centres accelerate Rural Development

As per the norms under National Health Mission, there should be at least one health centre per 5,000 people in accessible urban areas and 1 centre per 3,000 people in remote tribal and hilly areas. Rajasthan is the first among the states that have taken an initiative in this direction. Jaipur authorities are working diligently on the same lines to bring new innovations in healthcare industries. Having said that, the government is taking noteworthy steps in terms of Health Development and effectively combating the existing Mortality rate.

The health department will construct 919 sub-centres with pre-fabricated material . Many new sub health centres have been already built and some are in the process of development.  Built from pre fabricated material , these centres are Earthquake – resistant . Moreover ,the time involved in construction of these health centres is relatively less than the conventional brick and mortar structure. In a comprehensive view, these sub health centres are welcomed by the state for the multi benefits they promise to offer, clubbed with its expeditious construction .

An official said that 466 such pre- fabricated centres have already been built. He added “ Priority is given  far away  areas located in desert areas of western Rajasthan and in the tribal-dominated  districts. Out of total 919 prefabricated sub health centres, 296 will be constructed in tribal regions and remote areas of the state. Consistent use of  PUF sandwich panel fixed to tubular/hollow steel section frame is suggested by the health department.  Compressed fibre cement board panel, pre-coated steel profile sheet, filled with rock wool and fixed to light gauge steel frame is also being used.”

Officials said that a budget of Rs 248.17 lakh had been approved. “Construction of one sub health centre will cost Rs 27 lakh,” the official said. In consonance with the plans announced in 2014 state budget , construction of 51 primary health centres and 18 community health centres is also underway. In the  large scheme of things , the Rajasthan Government is taking strong and impactful initiatives to bolster the buildout of the public facilities in the rural areas.
