Jhunjhunu and Nagaur—two famous districts in Rajasthan are of great commercial importance. They’re famous for frescos on palace walls, livestock potential and fruit harvest. Both districts have immense tourism potential—a fact that previous governments failed to take advantage of. Few years down the lane, the roads leading to Jhunjhunu and Nagaur were in poor condition. Nobody cared for road connectivity and infrastructure until BJP government came to power in 2013.

When Raje rose to power in Rajasthan, she innovated the concept of ‘Gramin Gaurav Path’—roads that connect remote rural regions with the urban cosmopolitan centres. The schemes was launched in two phases—

  • In phase I, 1720-km long roads were constructed in 1920 villages in Rajasthan.

Raje government that realized the potential of road connectivity in boosting trade, industrial, agricultural and tourism economy was bent on connecting as many villages in a close-knitted network as possible. That’s how the fate of many villages in Jhunjhunu and Nagaur district changed over last three years.

  • Gramin Gaurav Path made life easier in Jhunjhunu’s Nayaasar Village

Villagers in Nayasar village had a hard time commuting across the village during monsoons. The roads were marked with dents and pits at regular intervals that turned into puddles and mini-ponds due to rain water. Resultantly, the villagers had to take the long route to nearby towns and cities.

With the construction of Gramin Gaurav path in the village, the duration of road travel reduced considerably. The villagers can easily travel to schools, hospitals and shops. Though the village has just 400 families, all 1500 people residing in the villages are now connected to the urban capitals by means of this village.

The students can travel to better colleges in the surrounding cities whereas the local businessmen can move to and fro all throughout the day. Gramin Gaurav path made life convenient for them.

  • Now, Seeta Devi Happily Resides in her Newly Constructed Home…

Mokala is a small village falling under Medta Panchayat in Nagaur. Sita Devi is an average person residing in Mokala village. Like others, even she dreamt of building a big, ostentatious house of her own. Last year, she bought a roadside house in the village. However, due to poor infrastructure, her garden and courtyards were filled with grime and mud in the rainy season. Not to mention, the puddles filled with water turned into a breeding ground for disease-carrying insects.

Seeta Devi turned a prisoner in her own home during the monsoons. Nevertheless, the construction of proper roads has resolved this problem. Now, the villagers can freely commute all year round and Seeta Devi doesn’t have to worry about her house drowning under gallons of water.

Considering the immense success of Gramin Gaurav Path, Rajasthan government is braced up to launch the second phase of this project. In the second phase, the govt. will construct 2098-km long roads in 2086 villages. Soon, all villages in Rajasthan will be connected with the nearby cities, thereby ensuring swift travel.
