February is full of love and spring’s warmness which amplifies with Rajasthan’s desert festival. The desert festival is fast approaching and like every time it’s all prepared to lure the worldwide visitors. The festival celebrated from February 8 to 10 is one popular folk festival organised amidst the Thar desert city, Jaisalmer. This time, the festival will even be more different with inclusion of women’s wrestling in it. For the first time, the audience will even enjoy women’s wrestling match during this festival.
The festival will be adorned with some exotic highlights like BSF camel contingent tattoo show, kite festival and the new addition is women’s wrestling.
The desert festival is organised by the tourism department. Thus, tourism department’s deputy director, Bhanu Pratap confirmed that this year’s festival will have the involvement of women wrestling also. It was promptly mentioned by Bhanu Pratap that during this year’s desert festival, at Dedansar ground, the wrestling will be held. It will be processed from the Gadisar Lake and it will reach Poonam Singh Stadium for the fest. First day will be followed with turban tying competition, moustache designing and Moomal Mahindra, Marushree and Miss Moomal. Evening time will be equipped with whole lot of cultural programmes.
Matadeen Sharma, the district collector thoroughly reviewed the festival arrangements and asked the officials to groom the starting arrival point by cutting shrubs, levelling and repairing the roads and decorating Gadisar Chowraha. The concerned department has given priority to all high-end performers for the programme.
February 9 will be full of programmes like camel decoration, Shaan-e-Marudhara, Panihari and tug-of-war teamed up with camel tattoo show. On the concluding day, the festival will be have its set-up at the Sam sand dunes. The place will come to life with plethora of festive arrangements such as kite flying, camel race and fireworks with some cultural programmes in the evening.
