Rajasthan state government has taken a favourable decision for near and dear farmers. Taking the ethos of nurturing the farmers along, the state government has taken an important decision for them. CM Vasundhara Raje have decided to trim the electricity tariffs under farm connections. This means, the meter class tenants will have to pay 90 paise per unit electricity charges on contrary to the earlier charges of Rs. 1.15 per unit. Also, the flat rates of Rs. 120 per hp will have some deceleration to Rs. 85 per hp. Also, the paid bills with increased tariff rates will be adjusted in the future bills.
This is only one facet of the big decision as the state government has also decided to bring down the DISCOM burden with providing Rs. 500 crores aid to them.
With these considerable decisions Raje government has kept below points in view:
- To balance out the losses left behind by the previous government in the form of borrowings.
- To bring the DISCOM out of the doom of Rs. 75 thousand crore accumulated losses.
Works of Raje government in favour of farmers:
- The very first challenge for the ruling government was to deal with the mounting debt in electricity sector. Thus, a debt of more than Rs. 62,000 crore on DISCOMs was take care of by the state government.
- Previous government’s concord with the world bank regarding the hikes in tariff charges was further suffered by the ruling government. These charges have been revised to normalcy now.
- Electricity theft is under control and has rolled down from 44% to 27%.
- As per the demands of the farmers, 2 pump system is the new normal in the state.
- Gehlot government had stooped the FRP which now has been revised.
- Villages are getting 20-22 hours of electricity every day.
- Power cut in cities is an old thing now.
- Raje government is managed to balance out the Rajasthan DISCOMs which have the highest dearth in the country.
