As per the latest reports, Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria on Tuesday revealed that Rajasthan has experienced a decline in the crime rate. In the past 4 years, the state’s crime rate has dipped by 8.9% under Vasundhara Raje led BJP government. The Minister also revealed that the crime rate was 30% during Ashok Gehlot led government.
Number of Crime Cases:
The data was revealed through a power point presentation that summed up four years of the BJP government in Rajasthan.BJP came into power back in 2014 and at that time the total number of crime cases registered was more than 2.10 Lakhs.

As per Mr. Kataria, the figures continually decreased to 1.89 Lakhs in 2015. By the year 2016, the figure had come down to 1.80 Lakhs. And now the data collected till October 2017 has revealed that the number of cases registered was found to be 1.45 Lakhs.
Crimes against women:
Talking about the crimes against women, the situation is quite similar. The Home Minister pointed out that during 2009-2013, there was a 92% increase in crimes against women. However, in the BJP governance, the rate has gone down by 5% in the last four years. From 32,000 cases in 2014, the figure has declined to 22,000 by October 2017. Also, Rajasthan ranked 3rd in crimes against women in 2014 which has now been pushed to 5th rank.
Financial Aid by the government
Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria also talked about the amount that has been sanctioned for ensuring safety and security of civilians. The central government has sanctioned INR 275 Crores to establish global centre for security, counter terrorism, and anti-insurgency in Jaipur. Out of this amount, INR 110 Crores will be provided by the state.
Achievements and Advancements of Police Department
While addressing the media at Jaipur Police Headquarters, the minister also emphasized as to how the government considers it as a priority to maintain a peaceful environment for the common man. He even talked about the achievements of the police department and the technological advancements that are aiding in coping up with the crimes.
