Imagine trying to run a business in a remote area that has no roads, water, electricity, telephones or internet connectivity. It’s hard to live in a place like this, isn’t it? You can’t drive your vehicles, your machines are useless and others can’t stay in touch with you! Though an absurd example, it clearly reflects the importance of infrastructure in modern society. By infrastructure, we mean different forms of connectivity, such as telecommunications, internet, rail, road, ports, airfields and basic structure (such as bridges, buildings, parks etc.).Infrastructure is vital for connectivity, which in turns affects work productivity and learning efficiency.

Viable, concrete infrastructure exposes us to the outside world. Better connectivity ensures flow of information, capital and labor from surplus regions to deficient areas. With connectivity, housing, commerce, education, employment and health services flourish. Therefore, infrastructure development is a priority for any government.

Being a fast developing nation, India is committed towards developing a stable economy and ensuring better standards of living for its people. Within India, there are bigger states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra etc. that work on their infrastructure to boost tourism, inter-state trade and interaction. Western states like Gujarat and Rajasthan are extremely important for the country as they serve as a gateway to the western world.

Rajasthan, being the largest state in India, is not just known for its royal forts and deserts, but also its culture, cuisine and hospitality. With time, it has emerged as a potential hub for skilled labor, industry, investment, eco-tourism and agriculture—all thanks to the progressive infrastructure model proposed by Rajasthan government. Modern day Rajasthan is an epitome of progress, which is possible because the governing bodies have considered ‘human factor’ when framing its blueprint.

In last three years, CM Vasundhara Raje led Rajasthan government has proposed ground-breaking infrastructure models for the state, with the intention to provide spiritual, cultural and material fulfillment to the natives. Her farsighted vision, futuristic ideas and relentless efforts have certainly changed the face of Rajasthan. In time, these projects will fetch sweet fruits for the people of Rajasthan. Enough said, let’s take a look at the list of major infrastructure projects—a brainchild of CM Vasundhara Raje in ‘Pink City’ Jaipur. In time, these projects will take Jaipur forward, in terms of growth.

  1. Road Over Bridges in Dantali, Sitapura and Jahota

Road Over Bridges

The R.O.B. (Road over Bridge) is constructed to connect long routes via bypass to facilitate swift road travel for cars, trucks and trolleys. The R.O.B. at Sitapura (87 crore rupees) will connect Agra Road, Tonk road and Sitapura Industrial area. A similar bridge will be constructed in Dantali (72 crores) and Jahota (55 crores) to remove hurdles in road travel caused by Jaipur-Sikar, Jaipur-Delhi and Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur railway crossing line.

  1. Ring Road Jaipur

Outer Ring Road

Raje government has proposed the construction of a 150-kilometer long, 6-lane outer ring road circling Jaipur that offers controlled access with a maximum speed up to 120 km/hr. In the first phase, it’ll connect Tonk, Ajmer and Agra roads whereas in the second phase, it’ll connect Delhi and Sikar routes with Ajmer road. The construction of ring road is likely to start by May 2017. The engineers will complete it within 24 months. Once completed, the project will reduce on-road travel time.

  1. Dravyawati River Rejuvenation Project

Proposed Dravyawati riverfront

Reckless waste disposal and water pollution have turned Dravyawati River into a drain. To restore its previous glory, JDA (Jaipur Development Authority) roped in Tata Projects Ltd. and Shanghai Urban Construction Group in this project. For next 10 years, these bodies will look after this project, which involves—

  • 170 MD treatment of wastewater,
  • Beautification of river,
  • Construction of 100 fall training centers,
  • Tree plantation and
  • Development of green cover.

This isn’t all! Bigger projects like Kishan Bagh forestry, Silvan phase II and Global centre of Excellence are under development.

For the first time in history of Rajasthan, state government has promised innovation in infrastructure, in such a short time. Investing in these projects will help rebuild better communities to create job, industrial and trade opportunities.
