Situated near Agartala in Tripura, Tripura Sundari Temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples in east India. This is amongst one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. During Lord Shiva’s Dance, Sati’s right foot fell here. Many red-robed priests serve as minister to the mother goddess Tripura Sundari. In 1501 A.D, this temple was constructed by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya. The amazing fact about this temple is that temple has two identical images of the same deity- one is known as Tripura Sundari (5 feet high) and another is Chhotima (2 feet high).  As temple premise resembles kurma i.e. tortoise so this temple is also known as Kurma Pitha. CM Raje in Tripura
