BJP Releases List of MLC Candidates in Bihar and UP for Upcoming Legislative Elections

BJP has released the list of candidates for the upcoming Legislative Council Elections that are to take place in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on 26th April. The list includes 13 names whereby 10 are for Uttar Pradesh while the remaining 3 will contest elections in Bihar.

While these elections will be contested for 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the number of vacant seats for Bihar is 11. Also, the saffron party has left one seat vacant for its supporting party Apna Dal. However, Apna Dal hasn’t yet declared the name of the candidate for this vacant seat. UP Legislative Elections

About These Candidates UP Legislative Elections

In the list of candidates for Uttar Pradesh, there are two State Ministers of Yogi Adityantha government namely Dr. Mahendra Singh and Mohsin Raja. Besides, three candidates Bukkal Nawab, Yashwant Singh, and Dr. Sarojini Agarwal are former leaders of Samajwadi Party and also former members of Legislative Council.

Moving on, Jayvir Singh is a former leader of Bahujan Samaj party who will be contesting elections for BJP this time. Apart from the aforementioned candidates, there are some BJP officials associated with the organisation.

Candidates from Other Parties

In these upcoming elections in Bihar and UP, the candidates for the available seats will be chosen by the MLAs. Owing to the majority of BJP and Apna Dal, it will hardly pose a difficulty for these parties to register a victory. UP Legislative Elections

Talking about parties like Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), these may win over 1 seat each. In Uttar Pradesh, a candidate named Bhimrao Ambedkar has filed nomination from BSP while no candidate’s name has been released by SP yet.

End of the Tenure

The tenure of the 13 Legislative council members in Uttar Pradesh, including SP President Akhilesh Yadav, will end on May 5. Taling about Bihar, the tenure of 11 members of legislative council will end of May 6. These members include the likes of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, and RJD leader Rabri Devi.
