PM Narendra Modi led government has approved the National Health Policy and it claims to provide assured health services across India.

The National Health Policy 2015 was given a nod by the Cabinet on Wednesday, assuring affordable health services to all.

The National Health Policy encompasses a multitude of factors like concerning universal healthcare coverage, reducing maternal and infant mortality rate as well as making drugs and diagnostics available free. These facilities will atleast be available in the public healthcare centre.

PM Narendra Modi and Union Minister J P Nadda made a suo moto statement in the Parliament today, elaborating on the prime features of the Policy.

An extensive amendment of laws also suggests that there is a pressing need to amend laws such that the overall policy is coherent with the current healthcare scenario.

“The green signal to the policy is a positive step, and we are hopeful that it will help improve the healthcare system significantly,” a senior health ministry official said.

The approval to the National Health Policy is a systematic buttress to the health spendings in public sector. As per the draft policy, there will be an increase in public health expenditure from 1% to 2.5%.

The health services will be collaboratively delivered in public-private partnerships (PPP) mode. This policy has been fuelled in the backdrop of rising health problems like cardiac diseases and respiratory diseases. It is majorly focused on mitigating the menace of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

This policy will be aimed at providing healthcare services to all Indians who are still isolated from many health benefit schemes operational in the country.

This policy is a boon for all citizens of the country who will now be benefitted by tremendous benefits in the health sector.

The policy proposes to increase life expectancy from 67.5 to 70 years by 2025. Establish regular tracking of disability adjusted life years (DALY) Index as a measure of burden of disease and its trends by major categories by 2022. Post this policy, there will also be reduction of total fertility rate (TFR) to 2.1 at national and sub-national level by 2025.

Under the visionary governance of Narendra Modi, Indians are in for more such life-bettering benefits and transformational activities.
