Barmer Oil Refinery in Rajasthan

Barmer refinery negotiation was not of short duration and was concluded in a span of three years. On Tuesday, the state government inked the MOU with HPCL to conclude the deal of a million metric tonne crude oil refinery project at Barmer. The project will need an investment of Rs. 43, 129 crore and will produce the fuels meeting BS-VI prescriptions.

Dharmendra Pradhan, the union minister of the state for petroleum and natural gas mentioned the details of the deal. The deal will conserve a sum of Rs. 40,000 crore with an annual gap funding of Rs. 1,123 crore for a period of 15 years in place of Rs. 3,736 crore as mentioned with the previous MOU signed by former CM Ashok Gehlot. A detailed report of inspection has been set up at Balotra, Jasol and Bithuja in the Barmer district. This is situated near Luni river by a team from the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board and the Central Pollution Control Board which was submitted to the National Green Tribunal on April 10th.

Also, this has been ensured that there are no trees planted nearby the treatment plants.

The treatment plants are exclusively called, “guns” and are also termed as “mist evaporators” that force the water in the surge and leads to evaporation. These machines were equipped at all the sites but none of them were in the working conditions. As per the current scenarios, the industry works with 40% capacity.

The Balotra Common Effluent Treatment plant that works for about 400 textile dying units around the area.

The reporter was there as soil samples were taken from the banks of Luni from the back of the Balotra CETP by a team. The soil was very much polluted which manifested a deep green colour. The reports said that iron and zinc were there in very high concentration.

With the reformed Barmer refinery project, we seek a new change and an elevated level of this crucial project.
