Innovative waste disposal techniques to curb waste menace are not only being devised by Rajasthan government but also its dwellers. A Jodhpur automobile mechanic named Mohammad Yusuf has innovated a brilliant idea for effective disposal of waste.

Mohammad Yusuf spread the idea of using vehicles as waste bins. He suggests neighbors hang a dustbin to their vehicles. This helps in plummeting litter on roads and also ensures that the city is clean and litter-free.
How does Yusuf connect with ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’?
Yusuf says he relates to the ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ of Narendra Modi, which has conspired him to inspire and motivate many people towards following this practice every morning when people leave their homes and empty at the nearest dumping station. He also sites ‘lack of waste disposal methods’ as one of the major reasons for discouraging foreign investors from making investments in Indian market.
“I am of the view that if we rise and turn our cities free from waste, we will be able to draw the attention of foreign investors and trigger employment in our country”, Yusuf said. “Usually, it is seen that the people throw waste in the nearby dustbins. They become overfilled and littersurroundings or remain uncleared by Nagar Nigam for days leading to rotting of the waste and causing a health threat,”Yusuf added.
Who all follow Yusuf’s mantra?
Impressively, Yusuf has not only been able to motivate middle class and lower income strata of society but also the elite bracket of society in Jodhpur. Owners of luxury vehicles like Audi and Mercedes have bought in Yusuf’s idea and hang dustbins at rear portion of their sought-after cars.
“We, the people will have to understand this to ensure our contribution in many such issues which easily could be handled on people’s level,” said Yusuf.
