As Rajasthan is tuning into varied realms of development and progress, there is no dearth of positivity and optimism throughout the Rajasthan government departments and at the Centre. As the state is pioneering into unexplored and unprecedented areas of development, the Centre is banking on Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for a thumping win in upcoming 2018 elections.

From electricity to water to transport, all is in good hands. The Transport department’s revenue has shot up by 13% which in numbers means a big increase in transport revenue.

On Monday, Rajasthan transport minister Yunus Khan claimed that the department had earned revenue of Rs 3,625 crore in the last fiscal which was about 13% more than its earnings in the 2015-16 financial year.

In 2016-17, the transport department had earned maximum revenue in the last three fiscal years 2016-17, the period for which BJP had been ruling. “The growth in revenue collection is the highest since 2013-14,” Khan informed.

Nonetheless, Khan also expressed his dismay on failure to accomplish the target of Rs 3650 crore.

To eliminate the menace of road accidents, the transport department is also running an exclusive campaign for road safety. The department has implemented the campaign in an impeccable manner and achieved wondrous results. Khan informed, “The total number of road accidents in the state has reduced from 24,072 in 2015 has now been reduced to 23,066 in 2016.”

This is not all. A slew of initiatives have been undertaken by the transport department under the leadership of Khan. The much sought-after facility of being granted a driving license on the same day of driving test is one of the major transformational initiatives by the Rajasthan Transport department.

License granting has now become a seamless process like never before. Khan said that people may now apply online for license. He added that the department will provide driving license and vehicle registration as smart cards.
