After misleading the Indian media for several days, Kapil Mishra finally raised the curtain to unveil the biggest mystery of the decade—corruption charges on AAP. Addressing a press conference this Sunday, former AAP MLA alleged that Kejriwal’s close confidants have funded his party coffers by means of shell companies. The money was used to organize election campaigns in the recently held state assembly elections. Kejri-fans have channeled their black money and hawala transactions into party accounts. In return, the AAP government has bestowed favors upon them, said Mishra.

Mishra’s Room was Jam-Packed with Reporters Awaiting Biggest Crackdown on AAP

Bundles of documents and a large projector inside Mishra’s residence welcomed the story-hungry press reporters yesterday. During the conference, Mishra blamed Kejriwal for—

Fake Declaration of Party Income

Receiving Rs 36 crores as donation in 2013-2014 that wasn’t revealed to the Election Commission. There were disparities in Kejriwal’s statements. He had about Rs 45.74 crores in his accounts. However, he disclosed just Rs 9.42 crores to the Election Commission whereas his website revealed that he had Rs 19.82 crores. By 2015, his party had raised Rs 65.52 crores through public donations, but he declared just Rs 32.46 crores to the election commission and Rs 27.48 crores on his website.

Setting Up Shell Companies for Illegal Transactions

Kejriwal processed donations via 189 shell companies, all of which were registered under the same address—in Jasola. Moreover, there were 8 overseas companies that funded the multi-million AAP campaigns. An AAP supporter from Bangalore transferred Rs 90 lakh to the party, but she mentioned just Rs 4000 in her income tax returns. This way, AAP raised Rs 70 crores from illegal shell companies.

Keeping Mum on his Foreign Visits

Four of 189 shell companies that have funded AAP were managed by the same director. For ages, AAP MLAs have been visiting foreign countries to receive funds from their supporters, acquaintances and friends. Probably that’s why Kejriwal doesn’t disclose details on his trips.

These four fake companies have transferred Rs 2 crores (Rs 50 lakh each) to the party account on the midnight of April 5, 2014. Besides, AAP has deposited Rs 6.26 crores in their account through 461 bogus entries. This way, they’ve converted tons of black money into white money.

All these accounts were handled by a CA that was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate for conducting fraud transactions.

Why was Kejriwal against Demonetization?

While it was normal for SP, BSP, Congress and TMC to oppose demonetization, we were surprised to see Kejriwal—a hardcore critic of Black Money opposing vehemently opposing demonetization. Kapil Mishra reveals that the shell companies operated by AAP had bank accounts in Krishna Nagar based Axis Bank. It was the same branch that had been raided for conducting illegal transactions during demonetization.

Having said this, both Mishra and Neil (a former AAP member) waved two undated checks worth Rs 35 crores in favor of AAP. The checks were issued by the shell companies but they weren’t cleared due to demonetizations.

AAP Supporter Sanjay Singh Says BJP is Behind All This

In response to Mishra’s claim, AAP supporter Sanjay Singh claimed BJP is behind this controversy. Modi and his team had connived with Neil and Mishra to defame Kejriwal before Delhi elections. He challenged the Centre to probe unbiased investigation against the party to prove these allegations.

In any case, the dramatic press conference ended with Mishra asking Kejriwal’s resignation. Following this, he heroically shouted ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ended up collapsing on the stage. The supporters rushed him to hospital.

We don’t know the truth behind Mishra’s allegations, but it’s really surprising that Kejriwal hasn’t uttered a word yet. For a leader who’s active on Twitter 24×7, we expected him to slam his haters with facts and figures, but they were missing in this case. Are these allegations true? Is AAP as corrupt as other political parties? Only time will tell.
