“ Clean environment and healthy life”, is what the Jaipur Smart Mission Ltd(JSML) has resolved to strives on.

In a bid to reinforce environment friendly practices and promote robust modes of transport, the Jaipur city officials are gearing up for a breakthrough launch of public bicycle sharing (PBS) scheme.

The officials are introducing a public bicycle sharing (PBS) scheme, to engender better and prominent environment practices. As a part of this scheme, one can rent a bicycle from docking stations that will be set up at 20 public and tourists locations in the city.

Greenolution, a Delhi-based firm is the lucky company which has bagged orders for this initiative. However, JSML will issue work order to the company on Friday.

Sandesh Nayak, chief executive officer, JSML, said, “The project has been christened ‘Cyclo’. The scheme will provide pollution-free last-mile connectivity for residents. The docking station are expected to be completed in three weeks after the work order is released.”

“Each docking station will cost approximately Rs 5.5 lakh. The project will be operated and maintained through advertising, which is expected to fetch Rs 3 crore,” added Nayak.

Reportedly, the whole project cost is pegged at an ornamental sum of Rs 1.10 crore.

This scheme would ensure that multiple users get to avail this facility. The users will have the option of returning cycles at different destinations.

The project will be developed in phases and JSML will launch the scheme initially at five stations in various localities. Once the entire network is over, it would cover a nearly six sq-km area.

At the outset, these docking stations will be installed at Central Park, behind Vidhan Sabha , in front of SMS Medical College Hostel (JLN Marg), New Gate and Trimurti Circle.

A total of 20 cycles will be available at each and every station. For one hour, a charge of Rs 10 will apply. However, cycles will be rented out following a detailed verification process.

To avail this facility, a form needs to be filled out. It can be collected at any the centers or else, from company’s website. An app will also be launched soon which will facilitate online booking of cycles.

This innovative scheme, called PBS is sure another milestone in jaipur’s journey of Sustainable Development. It is a boost not only to the environment friendly practices, but will also save big chunks of money spent on fuel.
