‘The Thar Shakti exercise’: Army rehearses mobility of troops in Rajasthan

Indian soldiers are constantly striving hard to outpace their foes on battlefields. The Indian Army recently concluded ‘The Thar Shakti exercise’ in the desert area of Rajasthan.

The Thar Shakti exercise was aimed at assessing the operational readiness of the army men.The exercise began on April 10 and ended on May 16.
Chetak Corps took active participation in this activity. Tanks, troops, artillery guns, light combat vehicles, advanced surveillance sensors and state of the art communication equipment was deployed to examine and analyze the preparedness of the army.

India and Pakistan have had bitter relations since time unknown. Uri attack by Pakistan and India’s surgical strike in retaliation added to the animosity between the two countries.

Many lives have succumbed to death due to Pakistan’s attacks. The recent act of mutilating the bodies of two soldiers after Pakistani militants crossed the LoC.

The Army said that it was rehearsing battlefield mobility of troops “keeping in view the fluidity of scenario and insertion of troops by the third dimension”.

Yesterday, the International Court of Justice heard India’s appeal regarding the death sentence to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav by a military court in Pakistan on the charges of spying.

The recent volatility at the border area mirrors the nature of future wars which Pakistan may be planning against India.

The UN Secretary General has been keeping a close eye on the India-Pakistan deteriorating differences. The organization suggested both countries to have a discussion for resolving differences.

UN chief reiterates his call for India and Pakistan to find a peaceful solution through engagement and dialogue to resolve the Kashmir issue.

“I don’t think it’s a matter of reluctance. As I said, he (Secretary General) is obviously watching the situation very closely and reiterates his need for the parties to find a peaceful solution through engagement and dialogue,” Dujarric said.
