    In kids, the innocence of childhood is being lost these days. This is happening due to heavy loads of bags and education forced on them. Hence, it is very important for the education system to take actions to return them childhood. To counter this issue, Rajasthan government has introduced the ‘Joyful Saturday’ initiative. Joyful Saturday Scheme

    As the name suggests, Saturdays will be a bit relaxed for school students. This initiative was started by Samgra Shiksha Abhiyan (SMSA).     Under this initiative, various recreational and learning activities would be held for government school students. These ‘Joyful Saturday’ will be observed on second and fourth Saturday of the month. This would be held after recess on those days. In this, students will not have to carry their bags. Joyful Saturday Scheme

    Aim of making ‘Joyful Saturday’

    The concept has been brought into existence with the aim to develop values in students and hone their skills. It will improve communication skills, creativity, critical and logical thinking of the students.  The focus will also be laid on community skills, social sensitivity skill and physical skills. These would be held for the students from classes 1 to 12.

    What activities will be held under this initiative?

    Multiple activities like puzzle solving,  debate, road safety, child rights’ club activities, poetry recitation, storytelling, toy making, arts and crafts, communicating with police, doctors, nurses, bank staffers, display of scientific magic tricks, plantation works, display of motivational videos, gender-based videos  and many more will be held on these Saturdays.

    Under this initiative, the interests of the students will be asked and teachers accommodate them. As per the class, the categorization of the students will be held. Three batches from class 1-5, 6-8 and 9-12 will be held. For purchasing of items needed to organise the fun activities, a provision of Rs 1,000 per school has also been made. Joyful Saturday Scheme
