Once, Rajasthan was among the least populated states in India and among the poorest. The literacy rate and the per capita income were also terribly low. But, the rich culture and the heritage of the desert state served as an advantage for attracting tourists. Tourism and hospitality sectors were essential for economic stability. Thus relentless efforts were made by the government to develop the tourism sector in the state. Soon, the regal palaces were converted into five star hotels. This resulted in a drastic increase in the revenue earning. With tourism, came employment opportunities that increased over time.
Natural resources, agriculture and tourism play an important role in the development of the economy of the state. The economy of the state of Rajasthan mainly depends on the agriculture sector. Rajasthan is the largest producer of the oil seeds, seed spices and coarse cereals in India here tremendous opportunities exist in the areas of organic and contract farming and also infrastructure developments related to agriculture.
However now Rajasthan has emerged as a leading investment destination of India. The economic reforms, low cost of labors, different variety of raw materials which are cheaper than anywhere else, the stability and the maturity of the financial sector are the main reasons why the economic growth is high In Rajasthan.
The growth can be clearly seen as the new policies and the infrastructure of the economy is being constantly developed by the government. The manufacturing and the IT sector has also seen a rise with a great speed with millions of jobs being offered. This has attracted a lot of private sector companies which are now showing interests in investing in the state.
From road construction to other development work, the government has worked at a tremendous pace in both the urban and the rural areas. Thus the present government is developing the state taking along rural and the urban areas.
At “Resurgent Rajasthan “summit , many countries like Singapore, Japan, Italy and South Australia partnered with the state and all of them wanted to see different business opportunities that Rajasthan is offering. This has resulted in the growth and the development of the state.
