Rajasthan state’s forensic science laboratory have made it real big for them and inaugurated the polygraph centre in Jaipur. This center will vanish the need of contacting Gujarat’s polygraph center. Earlier the Police department had to go far away in Gujarat to solve out their cases.
Polygraph is generally known as lie detector and keeps record of many indications like pulse rate, blood pressure, skin conductivity and respiration. While this, many questions are asked from the subject. The trick works here are the deceptive questions asked from the other person. Getting its own polygraph center is one pioneer step towards solving crime cases here.
Apart from this, it will assist in generating more accurate results as it will cut down the long commutes for test results. Although judiciary does not take polygraph testing as a valid one for solving any case but it may give a direction to a tangled case.
The inaugural event was led by Gulab Chand Kataria (Home Minister) and he mentioned that, for the state police it will be a preceding milestone. Before this, they had set up the finger print detection facility at state forensic science laboratory.
A senior designated officer promptly mentioned that, “The centre is equipped with lie detector machines and with the help of psychologists, lie detecting tests of the accused would be done. This would be done on the guidelines of Supreme Court where the consent of the accused and court’s permission would be necessary”.
When asked about the uses of polygraph test, he mentioned, “Polygraph tests are meant to probe, interpret and evaluate the internal and external behavioral and psychological patterns of suspects and accused to aid scientific investigation of crimes. These patterns help the forensic agencies to verify statements, suspect’s knowledge of crime, involvement, links and connivance in a case.”
The administration of polygraph tests are bound by the guidelines issues by National Human Rights Commission.
