Rajasthan to be declared open defecation free by March end

The state of Rajasthan is treading on a trajectory of success and ground-breaking accomplishments. The state will soon be declared as an open defecation free (ODF) by the end this month, claimed additional chief secretary (local bodies) Dr. Manjit Singh on Friday.

The meeting also discussed the aspect of solid waste management. It was said that 97% of the target had been achieved. Not only this, proper systems to convert waste into fertilizers was also in place across the local bodies. rajasthan odf

The ODF is a measure in estimating the development of any area or city. Because Rajasthan is soon going to be declared an ODF free state, the development is already visible and inevitable. The tourist numbers have grown by double digits in the state.

As far as numbers are concerned, Rs 3,234 crore has been sanctioned for 29 cities and towns. This allocation has been made under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). The Smart City mission projects worth Rs 7,075 crore have been implemented in the four cities of Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, and Udaipur. However, the allocated investment is worth Rs. 929 crores, a sum of only Rs 130 crores has been spent on it to date. Plans to leverage the capital to its ultimacy were made. rajasthan odf

The Lake city Udaipur has been ranked third in the country. The other cities like Jaipur, Ajmer, and Kota were ranked 12th, 15th and 26th in the Smart City mission.

For another national mission named ‘National Urban Livelihood Mission’, Rajasthan bagged the fifth position. Till date, 91,000 street vendors have been surveyed and 38,000 of them have been issued cards. rajasthan odf
