Rajasthan government is reportedly working on an industrial policy that would give enhanced incentives to the employers. This policy would help companied to recruit more people and hence would boost local recruitment. For this purpose, a committee has been set up under Additional Chief Secretary (industries) Rajeev Swarup.

The committee will frame guidelines within the framework of the Rajasthan Industrial Promotion Scheme (RIPS) 2014 with the aim of incentivizing the companies that recruit people of Rajasthani origin. Notably, the government already provides employment generation subsidies of up to 20% on VAT and CST as applicable under RIPS-2014. However, later it was felt that the most of the newly generated jobs didn’t really benefit the local people.  Rajasthan Govt

It’s important to note that the Vasundhara-Raje led government had promised to create 15 Lakh new jobs during its tenure when it came to power. In the state budget speech delivered by the CM in February, she revealed that more than 13 Lakhs jobs have been already created.

In order to fulfill the target, the government is planning to give postings to more than 95,000 candidates in various recruitments. In addition, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission and other departments are going to fill 1.29 Lakh posts.

However, the revised policy doesn’t solely relate to Rajasthan. Various states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Arunachal Pradesh have also made announcements for extending additional incentives to the companies that recruit locals. This change will be applicable alongside the standard employment subsidy provided under the industrial scheme.  Rajasthan Govt

As per the sources, the proposed law of hiring more locals is a part of the overall change that would be brought in alignment with the new GST regime.

There is no information as to when the rules will come into force but the proposal is being given the top priority and soon will be sent to the cabinet for approval.  Rajasthan Govt

Talking about jobs, it was reported in March 2018 that the state cabinet has decided to announce 1.8 Lakh jobs by July this year in 108 types of posts across several departments and categories.  Rajasthan Govt

Apparently, the government is making every possible effort to boost local recruitment by bringing change in the policies and schemes. The government’s effort in supporting and building an ecosystem for the startups is also bearing fruit as the state is gearing up to establish country’s largest startup hub.  Rajasthan Govt
