    Today, the state of Jammu and Kashmir again came under the Governor’s rule with immediate effect. It has happened within 24 hours of end of alliance of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. This led to resignation of Mehbooba Mufti and her team of ministers. President approved for governors rule

    They submitted their resignation to Governor NN Vohra. After this, President of India Ram Nath Kovind approved the imposition of Governor’s rule in J&K with immediate effect. Know more about the matter.

    What lead to end of alliance of PDP-BJP in J&K

    In Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, the coalition government was formed in 2015. In this, BJP had 25 seats while the PDP had 28. On this end of this alliance, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav said that rising violence and discrimination against the innocent civilians belonging to Jammu, this decision has taken by the party.

    Apart from this, a rift between PDP and BJP over anti-terrorists operations was there. As Mufti-led PDP wanted Centre to work peacefully with separatists while BJP don’t agree over this way of dealing them. Well..

    issues were there but the decision to end this alliance came after the meeting of BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir cabinet ministers and Amit Shah in Delhi on Tuesday.

    Soon after Mehbooba Mufti submitted her resignation as Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Governor NN Vohra held discussion with all the major political outfits of the state. After this, he forwarded a report to President Kovind for imposing Governor’s rule in J&K under Section 92 of the Constitution. President approved for governors rule

    The President also approved the report and now Governor will preside over Jammu and Kashmir. It is the fourth time when the Governor’s rule has been imposed. Previously, the state was under governor’s rule in the year 2008, 2015 and 2016. Since his appointment in 2008, governor Vohra will be running the state for a fourth time.

    In all Indian states, the failure of state government leads to president rule but due to special status, Governor’s rule is imposed in J&K. Only after getting approval of President of India, the governor rule is imposed for six months.
