Although Padmavati seemed out of trouble now, there is still some fear hovering over the period film. The film has now found trouble with the erstwhile royals of Mewar who are not ready to accept the movie even after alterations. Padmavati

The film will now be titled ‘Padmavat’ and will also be subjected to several cuts, as claimed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is making headlines every single day due to its close connection and alleged misrepresentation of historical facts. Padmavati

Two seniors of the Mewar dynasty hinted at a possible riot if the film is released. They said the movie should not be released even after changes and modifications.

Arvind Singh Mewar, the 76th custodian of the Mewar dynasty who was a part of the panel invited to review and recommend CBFC on the film, said that the panellists unanimously expressed resentment to the content and all of them had strongly objected to the certification of the movie. “We’re not against movies based on history, but they need to be historically correct. Padmavati

Another Jaipurite belonging to the Mewar dynasty noted that movies are a source of education for the youth today. He said whatever the film shows, children understand it as truth. “My three-year-old granddaughter too will watch the movie one day and tell me that, ‘Grandpa, Queen Padmavati was like what was shown in the film and unlike how you narrate in your stories,” he said. Padmavati

As per the CBFC’s decision, the movie will have to survive five major modifications, the major one being a change in the name. CBFC will certify the movie only after the suggested modifications are made. The decision was taken in a meeting in the presence of CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi. Alongside, a special panel was also established. The panel comprised of Professor K K Singh of Jaipur University, Arvind Singh Mewar from Udaipur and historian Chandramani Singh. Padmavati
