Now, tough time for Congress as they face hurdles aplenty

The Congress has failed yet another time to recover from an image about which it has done nothing to make a comeback. The Congress is being blamed for wanting to benefit from the agitations led by farmers, students, workers, and various marginalized groups, against the BJP government in the State. Nonetheless, the grand old party experienced a nose dive in Rajasthan.

Those, who were on streets against the BJP, said that the Congress was not present anywhere during those protests, even inside the Assembly. What irony!

They have been claiming the victory in the state citing the history of alternate governments. But amid the recent maneuvering in the party, they have decided to keep it low. After Diwali vacations, we see the problem is rising in Congress house by leaps and bounds.

Congress: Past and Present

It is well known that the grand old party governed the country for more than a half century. Think, how many works and developments could be done in this span? In spite of having the time and money, people lack even the basic infrastructure in the country. And people know this so well.

Consequently, the Congress’ share of seats in the 200-member Assembly has been reduced to 21- its worst performance in history. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the party failed to win even a single seat.

Dulichand Borda, state’s Kisan Sabha leader recently said, ‘Congress is trying to gain votes by playing negative politics. It has not done anything against the BJP government in the last five years. But it is trying to gain from the protests against this government’s policies.’

Along with that, after the lists of candidates came out, the party has been facing the series of conflicts and outburst by their own workers. The statements by their party leaders and workers say it all. Even the party’s national president has to face criticism over giving tickets to the parachute candidates which contradicts his promise.

What worries the Congress is a perfect machinery of the BJP and the RSS at the ground. The caste combinations that the Congress had preferred have also changed over time. The votes of Jats, Brahmins, minorities, and Dalits no more work in the state. Basically, Congress has got no strong ground to fight and win against the BJP. We wish they could have done something for the state in the last five years or before.
