Ring Road revised plan of NHAI

The construction of north-corridor is also proposed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Under the north-corridor, the road will connect Delhi and Agra. The plan to construct north corridor came along with approval of Ring Road south corridor. The decision was taken after Jaipur Development Authority’s (JDA) examining the alignment for the project. The NHAI has sent a revised plan. Know the other things about this corridor.

What is Ring Road?

The plan has come up by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to ease traffic on the roads of Delhi and to make the movement easy.  This is the third phase of ring road. As the traffic in Delhi is gearing up, the Centre has chalked out a `50,000- crore plan, including a third ring road. The Ring road is a plan to interlink highways with Delhi and to bring traffic congestion is on track.

Revised plan of NHAI

The Jaipur Development Commissioner (JDC), Vaibhav Galeriya said that Master Plan 2025 has 76 kms long Ring Road. If the revised plan is approved, the length of north corridor will be 96 km.

The northern ring road between Delhi-Agra passes through a ecological zone. And it is not allowed to build roads within ecological region. For this department said, “To seek permission from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) is a tedious and time consuming process. Considering this, the NHAI has proposed to bypass the construction in ecological zone and increase the length by 20-km.”

Earlier, in Phase III of ring road, it was proposed to construct a road in the northern part of Jaipur. This road would be 97.75 km and would connect Agra Road, Delhi Road, Sikar Road and Ajmer Road. It would consist of a six-lane access controlled expressway, a three-lane service road on both sides. But after the revision of the plan there will be changes in the plan.

Progress of southern ring road

Considering the southern ring road, JDA official share that the problem in construction of flyovers (Agra road and Ajmer Road) still there. The problems arouse as the JDA has failed to acquire 26 hectares of land for constructing flyovers. This has stopped the progress.
